Recording 2012

So we have started to move towards record mode, although I still hope to continue playing the odd gig. We are working on the last song to finish a fan CD that will be Factory Acoustic. I will have a totally transformed version of Factory (that was recorded in 2009). We are working on the song Restless, that if it wasn't for this acoustic CD we probably wouldn't recorded it because it is just too mellow. Anyway this will soon be Jordan's recording debut. The drums are now done, so whoever is available next will record. I think it will be me, but we'll see. Moar soon.

Darn forgot to post. Jordan finished his first recording session with Softbox. So all the instuments are done for Restless. Just vocals left. I actually think Todd had said we would try and record tomorrow.

The vocals were finsihed March 8th for Restless. Todd played me a mix he did and it was fantastic! But the last couple of weeks have been BRUTAL and we've had a hard time even stopping in for a coffee. I hope this changes soon, there is alot on my agenda. Also I have started making demos for some of the ideas I have been stockpiling since jul 2009. There are 4 demos in different states. Return and Hypernaught are bass/guitar/vocal demos both around 4 minutes or so. Cube Farm and The New Humans are just guitar/bass demos so far and clock in at 8 and 10 minutes respectively. There is one more song I plan on demoing called Into the Wild which I think is about 3 minutes or so. Then I will collect ideas (more ideas) from Jordan and Todd to create 2 or 3 songs (or more) depending on how full the ideas bin is. I have about 5 other ideas that for now, I think I will just sit on. Oh wait this all started with a demo for a song (so far) called Hard, but I think I need to erase it and start again. The ideas are good they are just played really badly and out of time.

We had arranged to do something Friday the 13th. At the last moment something came up for Jordan and that part had to be scrapped. By the time we got his message it was already too late to start something new, but I did have one thing I wanted to try. I had a disc with all the old demos I had recorded on my computer. I put them on the Hagaburr computer and after a bit of tweaking the demo for Halo of Nembutales was playing and ready to record. So with a little tweaking I will have templates for Have a Nice Day and Failure as well. This is very good, in the future we could use my demos as templates (like for the awful demos I did for the New Humans, Cube Farm, Hypernaught, Return and Into the Wild!). This will speed things up alot. I also played Todd the new demos and he said he really liked alot of the new ideas. I'm not done with them yet, but we are on the right track! I forgot to get the last bit of video for the recording of Restless, next time.

We have finally been doing a bit of recording. The drums are done for Halo of Nembutales and Failure P1. I did the bass and a bit of keyboard for Halo as well. So slowly but surely these songs are getting done. At home I have pretty much finallized the demos for The New Humans, Hypernaught, Cube Farm, Return, In the Wild and a new song called Inside. After much discussion we are about 80% on recording a double album. Disc one would be the unabridged version of Invasion, and Disc 2 would be The New Humans, Hypernaught ect. I am shooting for about 42 minutes for each album, just because then it would be possible to release them as records as well. Not saying that we will, just that it could be a possibility. Whereas Interesting is about 12 minutes too long ...

So anyway Invasion looked like it was a bit too short, so I started working on a piece bewteen part 1 and 2 called Peril One. I was thinking it should be mostly instrumental and started gathering riffs. The first bits were actually 2 ideas I had left on the video from the recording of interesting. I finished it today and Invasion without anything between the parts is 39.57. The New Humans side is about 37 minutes so far, so I have to stop writing, to let Jordan and Todd add something.

We have been sneaking some recording in on the odd day as well. Todd has finished drums for Halo fo Nembutales, Failure part 1 & 2. Although listening to part 2 we may have to redo a bit of stuff here and there. There are as many as 3 songs left. Have a Nice Day, Rocking in the free world, and maybe an instrumental called 1991, maybe. There is only bass on Halo, and there is no guitar on anything yet.
